Description
PSA in the blood exists in two forms: bound and unbound (free). Most of the PSA in the blood is bound to proteins, while a smaller portion circulates as free PSA, unbound to any proteins. The Free PSA test specifically measures the amount of unbound PSA, which is particularly useful in distinguishing between benign prostate conditions and prostate cancer.
